Estimator & Project Manager. Greg Gonzalez is our lead estimator and project manager for residential painting. Greg has deep experience in both commercial as well as residential painting and construction. Coming from a family of Master Civil Engineers he learned early to think critically about projects. One of Greg’s earliest memories with his father, was being picked up from kindergarten and subsequently being put in the lap of a bulldozing operator as a forest was cleared in order to build the next subdivision on the books for his father’s engineering company! An early start indeed!
Greg is originally from Baton Rouge, Louisiana and spent all of his formative years working on jobs for and in the office of his father’s engineering firm doing everything from cleaning and painting to selling Engineering services to various chemical plant concerns up and down the Mississippi River (Georgia Pacific, Formosa Plastics, Exxon, and the like). He had the blessing of being part of every major business meeting his father had until his move to Minnesota.
Greg moved to Minneapolis/St. Paul in 1990 in order to study at the University of Minnesota. To pay his tuition he gave house painting a shot by refinishing a neighbor’s home. Within a month he had too many clients to take on new business and his company’s signs were lined up and down Summit Avenue in St. Paul.
After finishing school, Greg jumped into commercial construction and began working as an Estimator and Project Manager. After approximately 7 years, he attained the level of Sr. Project Manager and Estimator for one of the leading commercial painting companies in Minnesota, working on a daily basis with the President and Owner. One of Greg’s career highlights is that he personally estimated, negotiated, and contracted an $87 million general value construction project based in South St. Paul. The painting contract was for $1.7 million, which took the Owner to a new level of success.
For the past 8 years Greg returned to his high end paint restoration company he started in 2009. The last 4 projects he completed were on turn of the century, architecturally significant homes throughout the Kenwood, Lowry Hill, and Greater Minneapolis areas of Minnesota. He handled everything from sales and marketing to field operations and project management. Meeting every customer’s expectations with the utmost attention to detail and professionalism has been one of Greg’s greatest strengths from the beginning of his career. The jobs he sold and subsequently managed ranged in price from 5k to in access of 50k.
